Color: Sleeveless Rollneck Sweater, black
Description

The coziest cotton hand knit top with sweet roll detailing at neck and shoulders, perfect for layering or on its own for warmer days!

Each sweater takes our team in Nepal 3 days to produce.

Many "handmade" sweaters are actually made on a knitting machine — one guided by a person's hands, but a machine all the same, capable of turning out rows in a fraction of the time it takes a knitter working alone. Ours are hand knit in the truest sense: every stitch is formed one at a time on knitting needles, by hand, with no machine and no electricity anywhere in the process. It's slower and takes more care, and that's why each piece has a warmth and character no machine can replicate.

Thoughtfully designed in Austin and ethically hand knit in Kathmandu.

100% hand knit cotton

100% low impact azo free dyes

Bidya is a woman who gets things done with a smile and sensible approach. I love hearing about her family and seeing her pride in them. She has been with our partner organization for decades, and helped build it into an amazing organization that supports the local community with donations to local schools and development of new projects creating jobs for more people.

The women of our incredible partner collective in Nepal hand knit each sweater with cotton, then color that with gentle dyes, and finally add the finishing touches to each piece. This hand knit cotton just gets softer & comfier with wear.

Each piece will be slightly different & unique due to the special nature of the handmade process.

Thank you for supporting ethical & sustainable fashion!

Hand-Dyed Clothes

As with all hand-dyed products, some color variation within and between items is normal, and part of their unique beauty.

Hand-dyed products may bleed slightly when wet, so please follow cleaning instructions carefully.

Bleach should never be used on these garments as it can cause damage and even yellowing.

Some things can cause what looks like a stain on plant-dyed clothing, but it's actually a chemical reaction usually reversed with water!

Follow these steps if you notice spots from...

Citrus, Vinegar, Wine, Tea, Coffee & Other Highly Acidic Foods

  1. soak the entire garment in cold water for at least 1 hour (best overninght).
  2. wash according to care label instructions.
  3. repeat if necessary.

Alkaline Deodorants with Baking Soda

  1. dilute ph neutral detergent in warm water & soak garment for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight).
  2. gently rub stains if needed.
  3. repeat if necessary

Cooking Oil, Beauty Oil, Grease

  1. sprinkle baking powder on stain
  2. let sit 30 mins
  3. soak in warm water, then wash according to care label
  4. repeat if necessary
How to Wash Plant Dyed Clothing

Hand wash in cold color with soft, PH neutral soap (some examples are ECOS, 7th Generation, Eucalan, & Woolite)

  • If washing on the hand wash cycle of a machine, washing in a garment bag will help avoid snags
  • Wash dark colors separately
  • Natural indigo is especially prone to color transfer at first. To avoid blue skin, some people choose to wash their new indigo clothes a few times before wearing
  • The colors of plant based dye will mellow over time, adding a whole new dimension to your wardrobe
  • Do not bleach
  • Air dry out of direct sunlight
  • Handle with ♥️
